Greetings Sir Knights and Family of the Valley,

Well, the end of the year is here, which as always has one asking - where did the time go? Did we accomplish all that we had hoped? For the KSA, almost. We had set out with some lofty goals and I believe we made a respectable dent in the work we endeavored on. Let’s take a look at a few things.
We had consistent and well attended KSA meetings, thanks to our past Chief Knights and core members who have been fixtures in our order for some time. We also had an increase in active new members who ignited a spark in the KSA, not only with attendance but with great ideas and work ethics.  We assisted with both our Spring and Fall Reunions, held Knighting ceremonies for new members, and Elevation Knighting’s for deserving Knights. Greeting and assisting you in various ways at our Scottish Rite events, drafting and adopting new bylaws, hosting two events - the Scottish Highland games trip in September and our latest successful event, our “Cabaret Night” dinner and magic show in November. Our Knights have created our KSA website that you can find on the Scottish Rite site. The Chief Knight article is a new addition this year as well as his contact info on the Officers page. A special thank you to Brother Hank Vlcek, Illustrious Ken Nagel, our four Officer Bodies and Angela Athans, for encouraging and showing support for our order, which of course is YOUR order. Did we serve you well? I hope so.
On December 1st we will be holding our annual elections which will usher in a fresh line of officers ready to serve you. All of our active members would like to thank you all for the privilege of serving this year. We are still not quite done - a few items left on our plate, continuing our momentum into the next year.
As Chief Knight, it was an honor to serve, and I will remain an active Knight of St. Andrew hopefully for years to come.
From all of the Knights of Saint Andrew, THANK YOU!

Greetings Sir Knights!

I would like to first say how much the KSA is enjoying serving you this year thus far. We have and are having a great time and it is due to your participation in the Scottish Rite that makes this machine perform.  Thank You for your support.
November 21st, The KSA is hosting a Cabaret themed dinner and Magic show that will be a Black tie event filled with an incredible dinner, décor and a Magic show featuring “Hank the Magician” that due to the sophistication of the magic, will be for adults only. Bring your family and friends and join us for a great evening! November 21st, 6:30pm social, 7:00pm dinner and 8:00 pm show. Tickets are $25. per person. Please RSVP with Hank or myself for this KSA event.
This month we will be feasting with family and friends, giving thanks for being privileged to live in this great country. What a privilege it is! This country is going through some growing pains right now that I hope will result in a renewed burst of Patriotism and service that embraces all of its citizens.  This of course starts with us internally. What can we do in our daily lives to make ourselves better for our family, community and Craft? The list is endless. Let us all remind ourselves and not take for granted life in this country. Our forefathers created this land to be a place that the Supreme Architect could view with pride in its ideals and principles for all people. From the Knights of Saint Andrew, Happy Thanksgiving!
Ladies and families, are you in need of the KSA for any reason? We are here to serve you. If you are having difficulty with any task and need some extra hands, please ask and we can assist you. This is your Scottish Rite as well.

Greetings Sir Knights!

Well, it’s Reunion time again and the KSA is ready! We look forward to serving you in any capacity that is needed to have this Reunion make an important impression on our new candidates. Let’s all show these Brothers what Scottish Rite is all about!
On September 1st, the KSA performed an elevation Knighting ceremony called “Knight of the first order”. This ceremony was very impressive to those being Knighted and a round of applause to Sir Martin Maxey, Sir Mike Sloan and Sir Brandon Duenas for performing this for us. Congratulations to TJ Jackson, Jack Holmes, Tom Tefft, John Unger, Will Montoya, Ric Bartlett and Roger Harpainter for being selected for this honor. These Brothers have been serving our KSA consistently and it is appreciated. We had a great time with friends and families who joined us for food and this Honorable event.
On September 5th, the KSA along with brethren, friends and family took a journey to the past and attended the 150th Scottish Highland games in Pleasanton! What a great time and plenty to do and see.  Scottish Clans were gathered, Knights in armor were battling, athlete’s competed, Historical reenactments captivated, traditional music was chiming and good food and drink were enjoyed. This event will hopefully be an annual one that all of you can see for yourselves. The KSA would like to thank the Valley for your support for this event!
On November 21st, please join the KSA for a Cabaret themed dinner and Magic show featuring “Hank the Magician”! Due to the sophistication of some of the tricks, this show is for adults only. Join us for great music, fine dining and a glimpse into the mystical realm of illusion. Tickets are $25. Per person, please RSVP with myself or Hank. November 21st 6:30 pm social, 7:00 pm dinner, 8:00 pm show. Held at our Scottish Rite temple.
Look for some surprises from the KSA before years end. We are having a great time serving you this year! Carry on Sir Knights!

Greetings Sir Knights of our Valley….

We would like to start by giving a round of applause to our fellow Knights Jeff Hansen, Laurentiu Murgu, Jeffory Toone, Leopoldo Ornelas, TJ Jackson and Naresh Rampershad who were Knighted as Active members of the Knights of Saint Andrew at our July KSA meeting. Congrats Sir Knights and thank you for serving our order and Valley! We had a great night handling some business, the Knighting and of course enjoying some tasty food. See some pictures elsewhere in the Rite Word.
The Knights and members will be attending the Scottish Highland games in Pleasanton on Sept 5th. We were behind on planning this one which was my fault but a good time will be had and the next Chief Knight will benefit from lessons learned in planning this great event. A full report will accompany our next Rite article. Thank you to the four Officer bodies for their support.
The Knights would also like to thank Sir Knight Laurentiu Murgu for revamping the Valley’s web site and particularly creating our KSA web page, please check it out. This is a huge step for us, thank you Brother!
Our second event to mark your calendars down for will be our November 21st Cabaret themed Dinner and Magic show featuring the mystical talents of “Hank the Magician.” The cost for the evening will be only $25 per person and will include an incredible dinner, dancing and Magic! Due to the sophistication of the magic tricks, this show is for adults only. More information and flyer to come in the next article, as well as announcement at our next Scottish Rite Stated meeting. Attire will be tux or Black suits, dresses for the ladies. Friends and families welcome! Please RSVP with me or the SR Office.
The Knights will be perfecting our Knight of the First Order ceremony on Sept 1st. This Knighting is an elevation Knighting for KSA members and honorary members who have shown dedication to our order. This was created by our own Martin Maxey and is definitely something to see. We will announce our next ceremony at the Stated meeting. We are hoping to take this ceremony on the road and perform it for other Valleys. We hope you will join us. Thank all of you for supporting the KSA and let us know how we can better serve YOU! Thank you.

Greetings Sir Knights of our Valley….

It’s amazing that we’re already halfway through our journey this year. Our Scottish Rite has been busy and fun thus far! Thank you to our four officer bodies for their efforts and enthusiasm. To you our members thank you for continuing your journey in the Scottish Rite! Let us know how we can better serve you.
The KSA has been busy as well. Our membership has grown this year and we welcome those new Knights who have decided to serve with us! Our Active KSA members are up to twenty and the meetings have been engaging and productive. At our last meeting we updated our Bylaws and the attendance and participation was impressive. By years end, you will see a transformed, fully driven service unit that will have great momentum to serve you all for years to come. Thank you to our team for your dedication and hard work. Our next KSA meeting is August 4th where we will be knighting our new members and of course enjoying great food.
The Grand Masters visit on August 11th should be a great time and the KSA are looking forward to participating in this annual event. Any excuse for us to display our Kilts will do, but this visit is an honor for all of us, see you there!

Greetings Sir Knights of our Valley

There are plenty of things to be proud of in our lives. There are an incredible amount of things to feel good about, cheerful about and when we think of the 4th of July, patriotic about. The privilege we have as being, or aspiring to be, American!
This 4th of July, The Knights of St. Andrew wish you a safe and happy celebration of the greatest Nation of our current History. The Temple is not complete, but with our allegiance to our flag and our
determination to improve ourselves, which in turn helps our communities, and our country as a whole, this Nation can and will be the greatest in all of History. We will fulfill our forefathers destiny while creating our own.
Happy 4th of July!

Greetings my Fellow Knights and families,

The Knights of St. Andrew would like to extend our congratulations to all of our new Scottish Rite Knights who were part of the 2015 class. Welcome to the Scottish Rite! Now what? What can or should you do to get involved? Well, there are many answers. Let’s explore a few.
We can ask to join AV Tech team to improve the lights and sound so our reunions can impress all of the candidates as well as those Brothers who attend to watch. If you have any experience in these areas, please let us know so we can get you started right away. Your talents are welcomed. Worshipful Gregg Hall is current AV Chairman.
We can seek to join one of the four Officer Lines here at Scottish Rite. Like Blue Lodge, we can help plan and coordinate events, assist those Brothers who are in need, learn the ritual for opening and closing and other functions. Serving in these Lines can be fun and rewarding not only to you, but to our Valley which is our Masonic Family we serve as a whole.
We can volunteer to help with Janitorial and maintenance issues. Just ask Angela or Hank our Secretary how you can help. There is always something to do. Your know how may be the difference in solving a problem that might have otherwise costs the Temple funds that could rather have been  spent in more helpful ways, like services for our Rite Care center and more.
Being part of a Degree team and learn one of your favorite rituals that you attended during the Reunion. Our goal for the Valley is to confer all of our Degrees and improve the way we impart these great lessons. Ask any degree director for info.
There is another group that you can join or work with that participates in all of these activities and that is The Knights of St. Andrew! We are here to serve, plain and simple. Whether to assist one of the four Officer Bodies with an event or help with personnel, help with dinner service, participate in the Arch of Steel for special events and dignitaries, assist the AV team, greet our guest at the doors, visit other KSA Valley’s and exchange ideas and fellowship. Plan and execute great events.  Let’s build together.
Our next KSA meeting is June 2nd at 7:00 pm at the SJSR Temple. Food will be provided.
No matter how you choose to participate, the important thing is that you do. We all have busy schedules with work and family. But if we all put in what we can, the difference would be felt immediately. As we’ve all heard before, we get out of Masonry what we put into it. May your journey fill your heart and being with content and spiritual light, whatever path this Freedom leads you to pursue. Let the Chivalric lessons you learned as newly received Knights direct you on a coarse that any realm of Knights from any given age would look upon with honor and respect.
